Work with us
We're looking for a new associate consultant based in Bristol or the South West!
Update (12th March 2024): we've been blown away by the level of interest in this opportunity! As a result, we've pressed pause on taking new enquiries while we explore things further with a few people. Thanks for your interest and please check back soon or subscribe to our mailing list for further opportunities in the future.
We'd like to find an experienced trusts fundraiser - who is already working as a freelance fundraiser or consultant - to join our team of associates, as we're currently short on capacity for trusts fundraising projects.
How: All our associates work with us on a self-employed basis, working on specific, time-limited assignments. We can't guarantee being able to offer you a particular volume of assignments, and you'd never be under no obligation to accept any assignment offered. However we'd like to work towards being able to work with you on a consistent basis after an initial bedding-in period - perhaps 1-2 days per week on average.
What: We specialise in working with small to medium charities and social enterprises across the UK that are trying to achieve a step-change in their strategic development, income generation or fundraising. We provide strategic consultancy, trusts fundraising support and training to these organisations. Our typical trusts fundraising projects include providing short-term ad-hoc support to write or review a particular funding application, providing ongoing bid writing support on a retainer basis, and providing trusts fundraising setup support (such as prospect research and case for support development).
When: We're flexible, but we're ideally looking for someone with some free capacity from April 2024 onwards, if not sooner.
Where: We're keen to work with someone who is based in Bristol or elsewhere in the South West. We do most of our work remotely, and we already have a team of associates based across the UK. However, a significant percentage of our clients are in Bristol and the South West, so to complement our existing team we're looking for someone who knows the local funding landscape and can more easily travel for the occasional in-person meeting, if needed.
How much: We will pay a standard day rate of £232 - in the interests of transparency and fairness, we pay a standardised day rate to all associates. When we work with a new associate for the first time, we pay an initial day rate of £200 for up to the first 10 days of support. If you're interested, we can explain more about how our fees structure works.

What can we offer you as an associate consultant?
- Interesting projects with brilliant organisations - we work with such a broad range of organisations, including registered charities, CICs, think tanks and campaigning organisations. We cover a broad range of cause areas including health, disability, children & young people, education, community welfare and the arts. We're typically working with 10-20 clients at any time, so there'll be plenty of variety - check out some of our recent clients here.
- Support and resources - whilst you'll be leading on projects for us, you won't be alone. We like to work collaboratively, so we'll be available when you need it for regular check-ins, troubleshooting chats or a second pair of eyes on a draft application. We'll provide a range of tools and templates for you to use on any Lime Green projects, to assist you with prospect research, case for support development and bid writing. We can connect you up with one of our other associates if it's helpful to compare notes, for example about a particular funder or situation.
- Scope to get more involved over time - while we're primarily looking for someone to lead on trusts & foundations fundraising projects, if things go well we'd love to offer you the chance to get involved in other ways in future - for example by delivering our training courses, supporting our strategy work or writing guest blogs.
Ok, I'm interested. What happens next?
- Fill in the short form (currently unavailable) to tell us a little about you.
- If you seem like a potential fit for us, we'll send you some written information about our associates programme. This will explain a little more about our work, how we work with associates, our values and standards, and our pricing structure.
- If you're still interested in becoming an associate at this point, we'll arrange a video call with you to explore things further.
- Before confirming you as an associate, we would then ask you for two examples of your previous written work and two referees to contact.
